Pro Oxidant scores second straight at Fair Grounds

12 Feb 2023

Pro Oxidant, younger sibling of Grade 1 near champion A.P. Indian, continued to show improvement with age, scoring a second straight sprint victory in a NW2x allowance race at Fair Grounds.  Jockey Cory Lanerie sat aboard a perfect trip as he was allowed to settle just behind the early leader, moved to challenge and take the lead on the turn, and continued on to a near 2 length victory under mild urging.

The time was 1:10.2 but the last quarter went in 23.3.  The track played slow all day and we expect a Beyer in the mid-90s, as his previous race.  Pro O is almost out of conditions and we are pointing toward a next start at Keeneland, perhaps in the G3 Commonwealth at 7 furlongs.
