Town Beauty responds to softer company with impressive win

23 Aug 2021

Town Beauty, a three year old daughter of Speightstown out of stakes winner Clever Beauty, had shown very little in two previous starts.  As a result, we dropped her to the maiden claiming ranks in the hope she would respond to easier competition and she did so in style.  Sent off as the 5-2 second choice in a field of eight, she stalked a half mile split of 46.2, took the lead at the quarter pole, and steadily increased her margin of victory to an impressive 9 1/2 lengths.  She ran the final furlong in 12.1 and finished six furlongs in 1:10.4. Solid effort.

Ok, so it wasn't quite Secretariat's performance in the Belmont, but it was nice to see her finally demonstrate some of the ability she has shown in the morning in the afternoon.  The well bred filly now has a few more opportunities- eligible for the starters allowance condition before having to face first condition allowance runners.  Our hope is that she continues to improve with age and experience.
