Curly Ruth runs an admirable 2nd in her 2021 debut

19 Mar 2021

In her first start of 2021 and stepping up against a talented field of older fillies in a second condition allowance, Curly Ruth ran a tremendous race to finish second.

The classy bay filly was tucked away in 6th during the first stages of the slow fractioned race going ¾ in 1:13.1 while maintaining her midpack position.  Once it came time to run, Curly Ruth was urged by Hector Diaz under a tactical hand ride and exploded going 4 wide on the turn. She tore up the turf coming home to finish second by a ½ length in an impressive visual finish of 1:42.3.  A daughter of Rutherienne, Curly Ruth should have the tactical speed and stamina to go a bit further, and we plan to run in Keeneland’s April meet in a 1 3/16 race on grass.
