Beach Diva wins again!

10 Jan 2019

Beach Diva, a Malibu Moon filly purchased as a yearling, got up in just the nick of time to capture a contentious allowance race at Laurel Park on October 21.  Far back, as many as 16 lengths through a half mile, Beach Diva furiously wove her way through traffic and made up all the ground to win a fortuitous head bob at the finish over a game rival in Head for the Shore.  Having watched the replay many times, it is still difficult to believe she got up, but we won't complain too hard.

Time for the mile over a yielding turf course was a hair under 1:43.  She entered the race as a tepid third choice and paid $13.00 to win.  The filly comes from a very solid family and is a half to four stakes horses including Western Aristocrat (G1) and Zindaya (G2).

Beach Diva won a straight maiden in her previous start at Delaware Park on September 20 over 7 1/2 furlongs on turf. Her career record now stands at 4-2-1-1 and earnings of $58,000.

The plan is to give her a few months rest and paddock time on Florida before starting back with her in the spring.  We are hopeful she can garner some black type in her four year old campaign and return to Lexington as a productive member of the band.
