A.P. Indian retires from racing

   A.P. Indian was forced to scratch from the Vanderbilt (Grade 1) at Saratoga, a race he had won in 2016, when his ankle became swollen on his way to the saddling paddock before the race.  Examination revealed worn normal but irreversible wear and tear on the ankle and we decided to retire him from racing as he would no longer be able to compete at the highest level of the sport.  He retires sound and happy.

   Plans are to let him down for a few weeks at Fair Hill and then to have him spend the fall at Green Lantern farm in Lexington.  It is likely that he will go south to Florida with the Delcour barn and begin a new career as a stable pony for Leigh.  He will always have a home at Green Lantern.

 

   A.P. Indin retires with a career record of 11 wins from 20 starts along with 6 seconds and career earnings of $1.47 million.  His stakes wins include the Vanderbilt at Saratoga (Grade 1), the Forego at Saratoga (Grade 1), The Phonix at Keeneland (Grade 2), The Belmont Sprint Championship (Grade 3), The Decathalon at Monmouth (twice) and the Donald Levine and Parx (twice).  In 2017, he was second in The Commonwealth at Keeneland (Grade 3) and The Maryland Sprint Championship at Pimlico (grade 3). 

   A.P.'s siblings include Dragon Army and Arkanian, both in training with Arnaud Delacour and a yearling colt by Noble Mission entered in the September sale at Keeneland.  Ender's Sister has a Pioneer of the Nile filly at her side and is in foal to Uncle Mo.
