Frostmourne wins convincingly

12 Sep 2016

Frostmourne, a 2 year old colt by Speightstown, won his first start at 1 1/16 miles on the Saratoga turf.  The dark bay son and last foal of Leaning Tower was forced to wait patiently behind a very slow pace, seemingly trapped on the rail with plenty of run.  Space on the rail appeared at the top of the lane, finally, and Frostmourne was able to quickly seize the advantage and win going away while running the final quarter in an estimated :22 2/5.  If he continues to train well, trainer Christophe Clement could not rule out a stakes try next time out at either Belmont of Keeneland.

As a son of Leaning Tower, Frostmourne is a half-brother to Karelian (G1), Colgins Chip (GSP) and Mint Chip (GSP).  The mare passed away last year due to complications in foaling.
