A.P. Indian impressive in first start back

10 Mar 2015

A.P. Indian, the five-year-old son of Ender's Sister by Indian Charlie, returned to the races at Tampa Bay Downs on February 27 and scored an impressive 3 1/2 length victory over an open allowance field.  He was allowed to settle out of the gate and assumed the lead at the first call in :23.0 before going on to steadily increase his margin in splits of :45.3 and 1:09.2 and a final time of 1:15.4 for 6 1/2 furloings.  Curiously, the track record at Tampa at that distance is 1:15.2, only two clicks faster.

This was the first win for Green Lantern with Arnaud Delacour.  He has come out of the race well and is next pointing to a start at Keeneland.

An important update to the family happened the following weekend when Tiz Shea D, the three-year-old half brother to A.P. Indian, ran a game second in the Gotham Stakes (G2) at Aqueduct.  He is aiming for the Wood Memorial in his next start.
