Green Lantern breaks the win drought

25 Aug 2014

In an otherwise dismal 2014, Bee Brave has been the one bright spot for the racing stable.  On Sunday, she proved much the best, bravely splitting horses in deep stretch to win a second level allowance race at Del Mar.  Time for the 1-1/16 mile on turf was 1:41 3/5.  For the first time in her last several races, there was some pace to run at, as the field carved out fractions of :22 3/5 and a half mile in 46 flat.

Bee Brave, piloted by Tyler Baze, found herself on the rail behind a tiring leader for the second straight race, boxed in by the favorite, Yahilwa, who got the jump on her turning for home.  There was no time to move to the outside in the lane without conceding the race, so Tyler nearly clipped heels waiting for a hole to open.  Finally, a small opening appeared at the sixteenth pole and Bee Brave courageously dove toward the hole and rallied strongly between horses, pulling ahead gamely in only the final strides to win by three parts of a length.

Her conditions now complete, the filly by Rail Link (GB)  will likely move to stakes company next time out.  She appears to be going very well at the moment and both we and our partners, Eclipse, are hopeful that her form will carry her on the compete at a high level.
