Bee Brave wins her first US start

19 Feb 2014

Bee Brave, owned in partnership between Eclipse and Green Lantern, spent several months last summer and fall at Golden Age Farm recovering from "bone bruising" after an unsuccessful attempt to make it to the races at Santa Anita last season.  She was purchased off a win in her only start at 2 in England which was visually impressive.  She is a lovely filly with a pleasant disposition.

Returned to the barn of Simon Callaghan at Santa Anita, she resumed training and showed that she is completely recovered by winning a competitive allowance race in her first start in 17 months.  Her blistering winning time for the mile over the turf was 1:33 4/5.  She rallied from last after 6 furlongs and came home well under 23 seconds in the final quarter, besting the favored Mandella-trained Moulin de Mougin.  She could be any kind and as a lightly raced 4 year old, could be poised to have a long and productive career.
