Dahteste breaks maiden in game fashion

08 Oct 2012

Homebred two-year-old filly Dahteste (pronounced "Ta-Dot-Say") gamely held on to win her first race in a straight maiden win at Delaware Park on September 3.  Relaxed on the lead but never clear, she put her fellow pace setters away and then fought hard to hold off a late closing rival in deep stretch.

Dahteste is named after an Apache princess who was skilled in the art of combat, and she displayed many of the qualities of her famous namesake in earning the victrory.

Dahteste is from the initial crop of Majestic Warrior, a son of A.P.Indy standing at Ashford, and is out of the winning daughter of Navarre, Apache Canyon, who is by Gulch.
