Consolida earns stakes Victory in U.S. Debut

Consolida (GB), a three year old filly owned in partnership with Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, scored a visually impressive victory in the California Oaks at Golden Gate Fields on February 10.  The daughter of Sir Percy was acquired after an impressive maiden victory in the UK and transferred to the care of Patrick Gallagher at Santa Anita. 

   This was her first start in North America.  Anticipated to be competitive on turf, she relished the all-weather surface at GGF.  She broke in hand, relaxed on the backstretch while spotting the leaders a dozen lengths, moved up steadily on her own entering the far turn and looked to be blocked at the top of the stretch.  A seam opened up, however and, after having to check, she was able to deliver an acceleration that propelled her past the leaders in a matter of a few strides.  She then kept to her task and scored an easy 1+ length victory.

   Time for the mile and a sixteenth was 1:45.2.  Consolida will now return to Santa Anita and likely make her next start on grass against tougher stakes fillies in Sothern California.

She is fresh and sound and in a good position to move forward.
